IN OTHER NEWS: PREORDERS REOPEN SOON!

By popular demand, we've decided to reopen the Preorder Store for folks who missed out on the KS and Late Pledge window! I'll have more details soon, but Rivenstone Preorders will be available shortly. Stay tuned for another update with all the details next week.

THE RIVENSTONE TRACKER

Last week was pretty productive once we had the downed machine back up and running. Tried to give us another scare this week, but the Production Team wrestled it back into shape. The B.A.R.D. is well behaved, but our yet-to-be-named machine is a little punk sometimes. Maybe keep that in mind while you're voting in the naming contest. 😉

STL TREES ARE FINALLY COMING!

I know, it's been forever since we had any updates on the digital reward downloads--specifically the STL trees from the campaign. Well, they're finally going to be delivered! We expect to send download links to all eligible backers on Friday next week, March 24th. We hope you enjoy getting a little official Rivenstone on your tables soon!

Thanks again to all of you for your support and patience! Chat soon.

II. THE FULFILLMENT TRACKER EXPLAINED

I am proud to present the official Rivenstone Fulfillment Tracker!

For those of you who backed our Dungeon Delvers campaign, you might remember my “Phial of Progress” that I built as a visual aid to show how much work was getting done over time as we headed to fulfillment. I took all the feedback I received about the OG phial on how to make it more legible, and I built a beast of a tracker console for y’all this time around.

THE OVERVIEW

The Fulfillment Tracker is intended to provide a high level view of our progress on building Rivenstone to order at our shop in Renton, WA. As progress continues here at the shop, we will provide you with regular updates via the tracker to help visualize how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go.

Take a quick look at where we stand as of today, and then I’ll explain what each section means.

THE PHASES

The fulfillment tracker is broken into three major milestones for the delivery of Rivenstone, which we are calling phases. The end result of each phase allows us to fully move on to the completion of the following phase.

For example, we need all the molds made in phase one to fully be able to complete Siocast production in Phase Two. We need all of the product packed at the end of Phase Two to begin fulfilling orders to ship in Phase Three.

It should also be noted that the labor required for each phase is different too. Phase One is the most labor intensive and slowest moving due to its resource requirements. Once a miniature has made it through all of the preparatory work before manufacturing and heads into Phase Two, the time and labor required drops quite a bit. You can expect to see the SioCast Manufacturing pace to pick up, for example, once all of Moldmaking in Phase One is completed.

THE STAGES

For transparency’s sake, each phase is broken down into the granular design and manufacturing stages that allow us to meet the final milestone of that phase. This is where you’ll be able to see just how far along we’ve come in the overall production of Rivenstone, and what to look forward to next as we move closer to shipping the completed product.

If you have any questions about what a specific stage entails, ask us in the comments below and I’ll explain in greater detail in a future update.

III. DELIVERY IS DELAYED + WHY

Now, unfortunately, there is a bit of bad news I have to share with you. As you can tell by the title of this section, we don’t currently anticipate hitting our initial delivery date of June 2023. We wanted to share this with you as soon as we felt confident in doing so, and not delay the delay announcement any further than necessary.

We feel confident that this delivery delay will not be a major one, and we expect to ship in Q3 of 2023. We’re expecting a delay of a few months, not a slip into the holiday season or 2024.  We want to be as fully transparent as possible here, and explain why we are delayed and what we are doing to rectify the situation as quickly as we can.

The delay is the result of two primary factors:

  • We had a reduction in trained staff that knew the finer details of early stage miniature production, such as engineering and mold making. We’ve combated this loss of personnel in a few ways. First, we’ve cross trained several staff members to help carry the overall workload. Second, we are actively working with one of our trusted partners to assist in making up the lost time in the mold making process. Finally, our trained staff is putting in extra work to do the best job possible in making up lost time without sacrificing any of the quality we expect from the final product.
  • One of our Siocast machines had an unfortunate mechanical malfunction caused by a specific part failure. These machines are wonderful, and we love what they allow us to create, but machines are machines, and machines do break from time to time. The good news is that the specific part we need to fix the downed machine is arriving here at the shop soon, and we’ll be back up and running at full capacity very soon.

We apologize for having to delay the product by even a week. It's not what we want, and we know it's not what you want. However, we felt it was imperative that we share as much information with you as we could as soon as we could. We don’t want this to come as a shock to anyone, or for you to not understand why this is happening. Most importantly, we want all of you to understand that we’re working as hard as we can to make this delay as short as possible.

All of this said, I don’t want to leave you on a low note so I’d like to share with you some photos of the work we have completed so you can see the scale of what those stage progress bars mean!

Some production models that have made it to the painting dept for color app.
Moldmaking crosstraining in action! Teamwork makes the dream work.
Wheels on wheels of parts coming along nicely.
Production Orrix models are looking mighty crisp.
QC'd parts clipped and ready for packing into product boxes soon.

We're well on our way to completing the library of over 600 production molds for Wave 1.

I’ll be back soon with more updates as we move into the final production stages of Rivenstone. Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your enthusiasm for a game we cannot wait for you to play.

Mega XXL Update Coming Next Week
about 1 year ago – Fri, Mar 03, 2023 at 05:26:50 PM

Hey all--

After another week of unexpectedly long recovery, I was able to come back to the office today for some meetings and did a deep dive catch-up on Rivenstone with the rest of my teammates who have been hard at work in my absence.

While I had planned to have the Rivenstone Project Tracker and livestream schedule up today, I have decided to condense all of the info I got today as well and post it early next week in a super-sized megagulp of an update that will give you the full picture on Rivenstone's production progress and explain the tracker module in detail. There's just a lot of good info that I don't want to cut out of this update for the sake of expediency, so I'll be taking my time to make sure this mega-update is of high quality.

I appreciate your patience and I look forward to getting you all fully up to speed early next week!

Thanks again as always for your understanding,

✌️ Hanna + The BAM Team
