FAQ: Rivenstone: A Brand New Tabletop Miniature Skirmish Game
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

I signed up for the newsletter prior to launch for the Mystery Gift. What is the Mystery gift, and when will I receive it?

Mystery gifts will be received along with the products you receive from this campaign. We haven’t revealed what the mystery gift is yet, and there is a chance it will remain a secret all the way until it arrives at your doorstep (but we will tell you that it is a physical item)!

We have a list of those who did sign up for the mystery gift, and so there is nothing further you need to do to receive yours.

What scale are the miniatures in Rivenstone?

35mm Heroic Scale.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:04

What size table is Rivenstone played on?

3’x3’

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:04

Will multi (3-4) player scenarios be available?

It’s only for 2 players currently, but we may potentially adjust that down the road.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:04

Will there be a solo-mode option for the game?

Though there is not currently a solo-mode option, we are looking into developing multi-player competitive and co-op offerings later on in the game’s lifecycle.

Why does the game use custom dice?

The custom dice in Rivenstone allowed us to massage the dice probabilities to match the exact play experience we wanted to provide. For example, an attacker is slightly more likely to net a success on each die than a defender, putting an emphasis on aggression.

The symbols on the dice also provide design space for future models to utilize the die results in unique ways. We already see an example of this with Tor, who can count Wilds as two successes, but we can go much further. When we do so, we feel that referring to these results via symbols instead of a range of numerical values will be a much more clean and concise way of presenting the rules.

What material are these models produced in?

Our models will be produced in-house at BAM HQ in Renton, WA in Siocast Hard material.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:18

What is Siocast?

In short, it is injected thermoplastic resin. It is flexible, durable, and great for painting.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

If Siocast is flexible, won't the minis shed paint easily when you handle them?

Paint adheres to siocast remarkably well, with or without primer. We have not experienced any cracking or shedding.

Are there plans for more battle reports showcasing all miniatures?

Yes! We have TONS of plans for more livestreams and Battle Reports!

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

Will this game be offered in other languages?

We don’t have any definitive plans at the moment to offer the game in other languages.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

When is the estimated delivery?

The conservative answer is June 2023 although we’ll do our very best to deliver before then, if possible! The last few years have taught us to allow plenty of buffering time in the event some unforeseen circumstance pops up.

How will the rules be made available, and when?

A printed Rivenstone rulebook is included in each Starter Box, along with all Stat Cards associated with the models in the Starter Box. Stat cards for individually sold models are included in their box. Additionally PDFs of both rules and cards will be free online. The rules in their entirety will not be made available until after the kickstarter is complete.

Until then, we recommend reading the blog posts and watching our youtube battle report, as this offers you a “guided tour” of the gameplay and rules content of the game.

Will there be a digital version of Rivenstone?

We have no plans to make an official digital version of Rivenstone at this time.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

Will there be STLs for this game?

The short answer is no. We have chosen to release Rivenstone as a physical product only. We want to help build the community of tabletop gaming as well as support FLGS culture through this game, therefore we felt it best to set aside 3D printing for this product line.

For those players who want to incorporate 3D printing into their Rivenstone gaming, custom terrain components are a great way to do so utilizing the keyword mechanic system. The rulebook will be published online for free for your reference once the graphic design is complete.

Is the starter box enough for 2 people to play against each other or do you need 1 starter box per person?

1 starter box will give 1 player everything that they need to play, however each player will need their own starter box.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:32

What is the difference between the starter box versus the “all-in pledge” per faction?

The all-in pledge includes the starter box PLUS all of the add-on products for that faction.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

If I have the early bird special and decide to upgrade the pledge later will I lose the early bird bonus?

No, you will not lose the early bird bonus as long as you keep your early bird pledge until the campaign closes. Once the pledge manager is live, you may upgrade or change your pledge as long as it is of the same value or higher. It is not recommended to cancel your pledge then to re-pledge at a different level after the initial 48 hours of the campaign as your early bird status will be lost. Our team cannot restore early bird status once it is lost, as we have no ability to change backers’ pledge levels on their behalf.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

Can I get multiple of the same pledge tiers?

Yes, in the pledge manager you will be able to purchase any of the pledge tiers any number of times. If you plan to purchase two War Hero pledges for instance you can pledge for one at $225 and increase the amount of money you are pledging to $450 to cover both pledges. Increasing the amount you are pledging before the end of the campaign to what you plan to purchase not only helps us know what your interest in the product is, but in unlocking stretch goals for everyone.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:18

When will the pledge manager go live?

It will take approximately one month to publish the pledge manager after the campaign ends, however it could take slightly longer. Expect the pledge manager to go live in late June, early July 2022.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:18

If I have the early bird bonus and purchase pledge levels during the pledge manager will they all be considered early birds?

Yes, you will receive the early bird terrain features for each pledge tier you purchase through the pledge manager.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:18

Will I receive the bonus stretch goal models if I purchase multiple pledges during the pledge manager?

Yes, you will receive all applicable stretch goal bonuses for each pledge tier you purchase during the pledge manager with the exception of digital rewards which will only be once per account.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:18

Will the bonus stretch goal models be available to purchase as add-ons?

Yes.

I can’t buy Rivenstone now, but I’d like to in the future. Will it be available through retailers?

Our goal is to utilize the funds generated through Kickstarter to launch Rivenstone in retail and support the game through FLGSs from then on, in perpetuity.

Last updated: May 06, 2022 14:19

What is the BASH program and how does it work?

You can nominate your local retail store to be part of the Broken Anvil Shipping Hub network (BASH for short), and get them in on the Rivenstone action!

Stores that choose to participate will be listed as a shipping option for our backers in the BackerKit pledge manager. For each backer that opts to ship to a participating BASH store, the retailer will receive a wholesale credit towards purchasing Rivenstone products. Backers will receive an ✨EXCLUSIVE BASH MYSTERY GIFT✨ in their pledge as a special thank you for their support.

Help us build a strong foundation to grow the relationship between BAM, retailers, and the community long after the Kickstarter campaign is over!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
